Sunday Hikes
Meet at 1:30 p.m., hike from 1:45 to 3:45
Walk for the Fun – or Just for the Health – of It!
We welcome volunteers to lead hikes in future months. Please contact Dan Heidemann at danlmark@gmail.com or (414) 416-1678 if you know you can be a leader. Hikes without leaders will be canceled.


 

May 5 – Minooka Park
Meet at 1:30 in the parking lot on Sunset Drive in Waukesha, just west of Hwy. Y (Racine Ave.) and just east of Hwys. 164 and 59 or park on the street. Hike from 1:45 to 3:45, then to the Neighbor’s Bar and Grill, S16 W22255 Arcadian Ave in Waukesha, to eat and drink.

County sticker or park entrance fee is required to park within park. Hike Leader needed!

 

May 12 – Menomonee Park
Meet in the parking lot at Lannon Village Park, located on N. Lannon Road (Hwy Y) about 1/4 mile north of Good Hope Road. Hike from 1:45 to 3:45pm. Wear proper hiking shoes, as conditions may be muddy. Trails are mostly grass, mulch, packed gravel.

Afterward, meet for food and beverage at A.J. O’Brady’s Irish Pub, N88 W16495 Main St., Menomonee Falls. Hike Leader is Gary Kovach, (414) 712-3897.

 

May 19 – Scuppernong Trails
This beautiful hike will be in the Kettle Moraine State Forest Southern Unit in Waukesha County. Park at the trailhead, on County Highway ZZ, east of Hwy 67 and north of the village of Eagle: address for your map app is S58 W35820 County Road ZZ, Dousman 53118. The trail is considered intermediate to advanced due to uneven surfaces, some inclines and rocks/stones in some places. Hike distance is approximately 5.5 miles.

May 26 – Whitnall Park
We will take an abbreviated hike in Whitnall Park prior to the club's holiday picnic so we don’t miss out on socializing with our non-hiking Vagabond friends. Hike Leader is Dan Heidemann, (414) 416-1678.


 

Memorial Weekend Picnic
The Vagabonds will have Area 5 at Whitnall Park available for a picnic starting at 10 a.m. May 26 if you would like to set up a game or socialize. Parking is just across the road from Area 5, and restrooms are nearby. Vagabonds and guests are invited to come and bring a dish to pass if you would like. Plates and utensils will be supplied. Bring your own beverages.

• HAPPY HOUR walk: Whitnall Park, meet in the golf course parking lot off S. 92nd Street, followed by a gathering at Open Flame Restaurant.


 

GOLF LEAGUE – Tuesday at Brookfield Hills
June 4 – Aug. 27, (13 weeks of golf)

16075 Pinehurst Dr., Brookfield
This is 9 holes, with tee times 1–1:30 p.m.

Come play on this executive course. Fee: $193 Cart rental is $10 per person weekly. You can sign up as a single or as a twosome. Singles will be matched with a partner, and each week there will be a mix-up of twosomes so you will get to play with everyone.

We will have an end-of-season pizza party. If you have a particular partner you would like to play with, list their name on the registration form. We will need subs; sign up for $17, which includes the pizza party. Subs pay $13.50 for each round of golf, paid directly to the person they sub for. GOLF LEAGUE – Wednesday at Songbird Hills
May 29–Aug. 21, (13 weeks of golf)

W259 N8700 Hwy 164, Hartland
Songbird Hills is just south of County Line Road in Hartland. The cost for 9 holes is $200. An option to play 18 holes is available at an extra cost for green and cart fees. Tee times start at 1:30 p.m. Golf carts are $9 per rider for 9 holes.

Cost includes 9 holes of golf, an end-of-summer party, buffet and prizes. Location of party to be determined. Guests are welcome to come to the party for $25. Golfers can sign up as a single or a twosome. You will play with the same foursome each week.

Contact Suzanne if you have specific requests for your foursome. The cost for subs to sign up will be $6. Subs pay $12.50 to the person subbing for. The end-of-year party will be an additional $25 for subs. Call or text league captain Suzanne Wiedner at (262) 305-8444 with questions.


 

GOLF LEAGUE – Friday at Sunny Slope

Fee: $174 for players walking
Includes the end-of season party
9 holes of golf – includes the end-of season party. Cart rental is $9 per person weekly. Or a 2nd option – Include the cart rental in the total fee at the start of the season: $270. Includes golf, cart rental and party.

Weekly Bike Rides start Sunday, June 2
We Need Leaders The Vagabond bike-riding season.Thank you to everybody who volunteered to lead a bike ride last year. We now need volunteer leaders for this year.

We ride on Sunday afternoons and need leaders to map out routes of 15 to 25 miles. Along with the ride leader, we will have a sweeper to help monitor the group and assist in case of emergency. After each ride, we meet for food, drink and camaraderie.

There will be no local ride scheduled July 21 because of the annual Weekend Bike Trip. To reserve your date, contact Jim Stephens at jstephens3@wi.rr.com or (262) 694-2115.


 

Weekend bike trip, Hillsboro, July 18–21
Join the wait list
On our Weekend Bike Trip this summer, we will be mainly biking the 400 State Trail. This trail offers the beautiful scenery of the Wisconsin Driftless Area, bountiful wildlife, sandstone outcroppings and rolling farmland.

 

It runs parallel to the Baraboo River. We will stay in Hillsboro, which connects to the 400 State Trail and the Elroy-Sparta Trail via the Hillsboro State Trail. Our stay at the Hotel Hillsboro includes continental breakfast, which includes freshly made cinnamon rolls and other light breakfast items.

Sit-down dining is available at Beezers Bar and Grill for lunch and dinner, and breakfast on Saturday and Sunday. Other dining available in Hillsboro includes Hillsboro Brewing Company, Tabor Bar and Grill and Station 2 Pub.
